Pitching Matchup
FLA: RHP Brian Moehler (0-3, 9.82 ERA)
Even though he was not involved in a decision in his last start, Moehler had a performance to build on. The right-hander worked a season-high six innings, giving up two runs against Colorado. Ironing out some mechanical issues, Moehler didn’t walk a batter, yielding five hits. He hadn’t allowed fewer than five earned runs in his previous three starts.

Miguel Cabrera

WAS: RHP Tony Armas (2-2, 2.76 ERA)
Armas will face the Marlins for the 14th time in his career. He is 3-9 with a 5.16 ERA against them. In his last start, Armas became the person that put a stop to Washington’s five-game losing streak. He pitched six solid innings as the Nationals defeated the Cardinals, 8-3. Armas gave up two runs on four hits. He threw 109 pitches, 67 for strikes.

Washington Nationals

Quoteable

You hate to see young players struggle,” first-year manager Joe Girardi said. “You get frustrated, because you know they are better than what they’re showing. It’s always one or two innings that seem to get us.
