- Franklyn German will be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with tendinitis in his right shoulder. The hard-throwing right-hander experienced discomfort after throwing two pitches to Atlanta catcher Brian McCann in the seventh inning of Tuesday’s game.
- With German on the DL, right-hander Logan Kensing is being recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque. German has appeared in 12 games for the Marlins, and has logged 12 innings and a 3.00 ERA. Kensing has appeared in eight Major League games, including three with the Marlins in 2005. A former starter, Kensing has been effective in 13 games of relief for Albuquerque. The right-hander is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA. He has logged 18 innings, striking out 18 while walking five.
- Even though Jeremy Hermida ran for the first time in a week on Tuesday, there is no rushing the rookie right fielder back into action.
On the disabled list since April 17 — retroactive to April 12 — because of a strained right hip flexor, Hermida does not have a timetable for a return.
