Heat Steal Game One, Fish Win in Walk-Off Fashion
GAME 1 | HEAT 91, PISTONS 86
The Heat to me look like a new team. Detroit to me looked like the old team. Excuses are excuses but the fact of the matter is even the Heat are tired after a week long rest. It’s the playoffs. If your going to come with lame excuses like your tired then go home and take a nap. CYA!
Shaq on the strong game 1 win…
”We’re playing with an unbelievable rhythm right now,” O’Neal said. “Guys played well, we played with a lot of energy. “Our motto is `No Excuses.’ We were very well rested, and we just wanted to play well.”
”[Riley] told us that if he gave us this much time off, we better be ready,” O’Neal said.
Riley on the win…
”I just think the last four or five minutes of the second quarter might have been the real determining factor in this game,” Riley said. “Even though [the Pistons] came back in the third, we got a little bit of distance between them, and our bench did a great job.”
”This is going to be a dogfight,” Riley said. “We’re happy to be able to get the first one.”
Wade on his foul troubles and efficient game…
”I couldn’t wait to get back in the ballgame,” Wade said. “It’s tough to sit. We’re used to playing a lot of minutes. But my teammates did a great job of keeping the lead until halftime and making plays. I was in a groove tonight, and I didn’t really get a chance to use my groove tonight.
“Hopefully, I can pick up where I left off in Game 2.”

MARLINS 5, CUBS 4
Mike Jacobs thoughts on his game winning single…
”Anytime you can come in here and hear music, it’s been a good night,” he said. ”I don’t even think you can describe it,” said Jacobs, who stopped between first and second, where he was engulfed by his teammates. “It’s one of those things where it’s kind of like you’re floating. There’s probably no better feeling in baseball.”
Joe Girardi on the comeback win and arguement with Scott Olsen…
”It shows that we can come back and win one in the bottom of the ninth,” Marlins manager Joe Girardi said. “It’s a big win. It’s a big hit for Jake, too.” ”Our bullpen has been really good at times and then we’ve had some tough games,” Girardi said. “The bullpen did an outstanding job shutting them down [tonight].”
”It’s between Scotty and I,” Girardi said. “Just leave it at that. Things are meant to stay between players and coaches.”

Depending on who’s talking, Detroit needed a rest, Heat had too much. It’s all BS. Heat looked organized when they needed to and got help all around. Looked like some good depth to me.

Detroit is really hurting bench wise. They have Antonio McDyss who is good enough to start on many teams. But after that they are pretty thin.
