ECF GAME 5: Miami @ Detroit Preview, 8:00 PM EST

The Heat head into the Palace with a commanding 3-1 lead. I love saying that. COMMANDING 3-1 LEAD. Feels good. That’s right Heat fans you Miami Heat are on the verge of slamming the door shut on the hated Pistons. Oh wait a second…I mean the Detroit Pistons are on the verge of losing the Eastern Conference Finals. There, that should make everyone feel better. Well last night the world got to see what Heat fans have been honored with since day 1. The man named Dwyane Wade. Wade sports a 69% FG percentage and 30.8 points a game. There are only 2 other men who sported a FG% and 30+ point AVG in the ECF and there last names are O’Neil and Robertson. Oddly enough Wade’s averages are both higher (Source ESPN SportsCenter).
Well now let’s see how the lovable media is reacting before game 5…
Trouble in paradise? It sounds that way.
– [Detroit Free Press]
Here, listen (and by listen, I mean, read) for yourself:
There’s Rasheed Wallace — not making guarantees, but letting his actions do his talking.
– [Detroit News]
The other Wallace wasn’t blaming officials.
– [Detroit News]
A lot more people, including Mike Wilbon, will be on Ben’s side if the Pistons drop one more to the Heat and fail to make the Finals.
– [Washington Post]
The coach has an answer to those critics wearing red, white and blue.
– [Detroit News]
Regardless who the Pistons blame, they’re in real trouble.
– [Detroit Free Press, Detroit News]
Or, maybe you prefer ‘hot water’.
– [Detroit News]
Some would just say they’re finished.
– [FOXSports.com]
No matter, this ending for the team that started the season 37-5 can only be termed a collapse.
– [SI.com]
One that could have Saunders feeling a different kind of heat.
– [MLive.com]
So, with one more loss, or more appropriate, another Heat win, Miami moves on to a place many believed was reserved for the Pistons.
– [USA Today, South Florida Sun-Sentinel]
There, Pat Riley can add to his legend.
– [Miami Herald]

So it should be an exciting one. As much as I can’t wait for this game I really would rather watch it with earplugs to avoid the Detroit crowd and Hubie Brown. Oh I won’t even get into Hubie Brown thinking he is coaching the Pistons during the game. Check out what The Dude thinks over on MiamiSportsDudes. He always does it proper. Also check out his refreshing writeup about D-Wade here. It looks like its Put Up or Shut Up time over on DetroitBadBoys and time to get pumped over at Need4Sheed. They always have a great Detroit perspective.

Why Hubie is ESPN’s A-Team basketball announcer I will never know. Couldn’t they use the ABC guys or hire Reggie Miller away from TNT or something? Even Dennis Miller* would be an upgrade.
I have to say that I was happy to see my team finally show up. If they can just keep their heads from swelling up, we may have a series on our hands. I’m thinking Game 6 is gonna be a war.
(*just kidding about the Dennis Miller part)
It will most def be a war in game 6. Glad you agree on the Hubie front. He really thinks he is sitting on the Detroit bench. Nice to see you stop by farlane.
