Marlins @ Rockies Preview, 3:05 PM EST
Consistency is the key for rookie Scott Olsen, as he tries to build on what was arguably his best start of the year on Monday against San Francisco.
His seven innings of one-run ball marked a return to the form he showed in April, when he went 1-1 with a 2.12 ERA in his first three starts of the season. May was more a matter of hot and cold for Olsen, as he worked for consistency both from start to start and within a given game.
“The interesting thing about Ollie is he’s had great innings and he’s had bad innings, and a lot of times they were in the same game,” said manager Joe Girardi. “He’ll have one bad inning, and a lot of times it will cost him the game.
“His last start, he didn’t have a bad inning. He was good the whole way, throughout. So that’s encouraging to me that he can stretch his long innings out. It’s not a two-inning period and then a bad inning. It was seven strong innings.”
