Matter All About: Dan Uggla
I am starting a new feature about our Florida Marlins called “Matter All About”. Each week I will do a feature on one of our boys to let Florida Marlins fans from all over the country familiarize themselves with our not so familiar team. This weeks feature is Dan Uggla.

Short Bio
Dan Uggla (born March 11, 1980 in Louisville, Kentucky) is a Major League Baseball player for the Florida Marlins from 2006 to present. He holds the starting job at second base. He joins a rookie cast that includes Hanley Ramirez, Reggie Abercrombie, Jeremy Hermida, Josh Willingham, Eric Reed, Mike Jacobs, and Scott Olsen, all of which represent a promising future for the club, but may struggle early on as a result of their inexperience.
Milestones
- Uggla recorded his first Major League hit on April 4, 2006 against the Houston Astros. The single was off Andy Pettitte.
- Uggla connected for his first major league home run on April 13, 2006 at Dolphins Stadium in Miami, Florida.
- Uggla’s first career stolen base was a steal of home plate on April 21, 2006. Jon Lieber and Sal Fasano of the Philadelphia Phillies made up the battery.
- An 11th round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001, Uggla was a 2005 Rule 5 draft pick.

Good stuff, JD. With all this Heat stuff, we’ve lost sight of the red hot Marlins. Great blogging here on Uggla and the Fish!

Thanks Dude. They def deserve the attention and I have been planning on doing this for a while. The Heat have really distracted me in a good way.

A nice new feature. I look forward to reading more about the “new” faces. Hope they’re here to become “old” faces. Keep up the good work.
