I’m a Sprint Ambassador!!
So for the past couple of weeks I’ve been receiving inquiries regarding SporTech Matter for various advertisement opportunities. I have chosen to not participate in any advertising as it adds annoyances to the site that my readers would not appreciate. I never expected to get an email like the one I got today from Sprint. The email reads as follows:
The Sprint Ambassador Team recently visited Sportech.info and wants to invite you to participate in Phase II of our Ambassador Program.
The Sprint Ambassador Program is all about exploring our latest products and services and allows you to give direct feedback to Sprint. We recently launched Sprint NFL Mobile content and want to provide you with the full experience, at no charge. Sprint NFL Mobile enables you to track your players, earn bragging rights, and become a fantasy football fiend.
So what’s the deal?
As a qualified participant, we will send you one Sprint Power Vision (mobile broadband) phone and provide you with 6 months of all-access service (at no charge). In addition to NFL Mobile, you’ll have access to the Sprint Music Store, live TV broadcasts, gaming, and more. Yes, you will also have unlimited free calling and data service. It’s a pretty good deal and all we ask for in return is your candid feedback (you decide how much and how often).
So of course just like any piece of email I get I assume that this is a scam from Nigeria and some guy named Ablah Hullah Akbar wants to transfer me 20 million into a bank account to help get his 20 goats into America. Or something like that. Well after doing some research I found this to not be a hoax but a marketing tactic Sprint is using with bloggers. This has been confirmed by various bloggers around the blogosphere. Check out testimonials from various blog sources:
The Buzz Machine
PaulStamatiou
Justin’s Flash Blog
Tom Markiewicz
The Pondering Primate
So I accepted the invitation to join the program knowing that I do not need to sign a contract and that my free service will end in 6 months. Perfect! Just enough time to make use of all the great fantasy features for this year’s NFL season. The phone I am getting is an LG Fusic 550. It specs out like this:
Phone: Fusic LG 550
Network: EV-DO High-Speed Data Connectivity
Capabilities:
MP3 Player + FM Transmitter with External Controls
Phone-as-Modem connectivity
Sprint TV + Sprint Music Store enabled
Bluetooth Capable
1.3 Mp Camera/Camcorder with Flash
According to Sprint with my free 6 month service I will be able to take advantage of the following features:
Sprint Power VisionSM Ultimate Pack
• All the great channels included with the Power Vision Plus Pack and: ESPN, Fox News Channel, NBC, The Weather Channel
• Discovery Channel, Animal Planet
• Toon World, Comedy Time, Music Choice
View previews of some channels you can purchase and watch on your Power Vision or Vision Multimedia phone.
• Music
• SIRIUS Music
• Music Choice
• MSpot Radio
• Altitude
• IMF Int’l Music Feed
Various Games and web access.
Seems like a pretty good deal to try for 6 months. At the end of the 6 months I keep the phone and service is disconnected. I will follow up this post with some reviews of the phone and reviews of the service itself. Should be an interesting 6 months trying out this new Sprint device.
This message confirms that you have successfully been chosen to participate.
You will be receiving your Power Vision phone package within the next couple of weeks.
Sweet.
