Update: Nick Saban Watch 2007

Checking from my Slingbox at work on NFL Live. John Clayton is reporting Nick Saban is locked in his office and is pondering the job. He won’t open his door to anyone knocking.

John Clayton feels he will take the job. He also noted that WH did not make any attempt to counter the offer that Alabama made.

Check here for the rest of the day for Nick Saban updates. You can also check Miami Sports Dudes for constant updates during the day.

(Update 1: 790 The Ticket is reporting that Nick Saban is having another meeting with the big H. We should have an answer soon.)

(Update 2: The Dude over at Miami Sports Dude’s has a source within the Sun-Sentinel and Saban has asked Wayne for more time to decide. The source also said that Saban will make a final decision by 10 AM tomorrow.)

(Update 3: Approximately 10 minutes after Huizenga arrived, Saban left the facility without commenting on his future. He did wave and smile. Following Saban’s departure, five assistant coaches left, all leaving in the same car. Asked if Saban’s obvious interest upset or disappointed him, Huizenga answered, “I don’t know yet.”)

(Update 4: The Sentinel comfirms The Dude’s source. Kudos Dude. Nick Saban has deferred his decision on whether to remain Dolphins coach or accept that position at the University of Alabama until 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga said Tuesday afternoon. Huizenga said he was “optimistic” Saban would remain the Dolphins coach.)

“I’m hoping he’s leaning on staying,” Huizenga said. “I like Nick a lot and hope he’s going to stay.”

Quoting a source, the Press-Register reported that Alabama Athletic Director Mal Moore agreed to almost every stipulation Saban demanded, including a large budget to hire assistant coaches.

I don’t believe Wayne’s a guy to give in or even negotiate in a situation like this. Nick’s a liar and a loser, and if he’s 8-8 next year, he’s a three year loser. If he’s meeting with Wayne again, it’s so Wayne can give him directions to I-95 north. No one (that I’m aware of) has sugested that Wayne told Nick he was going to fire his ass six weeks ago. Is that how Alabama came about anyway?

p.s./ JD: spell check and preview, slick.

    Unbelievable, huh?

This postponement tells me he’s gone. Dan Le Batard is tearing Saban a new one on his show. Pretty funny.

By the way, “source” is just fancy press-talk for I gotta friend who works there. Although he does have a very high position. I’m pretty excited I beat out all the major websites with this postponement news. I’m gettin my source a $20 gift card from Chili’s.

Hey a source is a source and allowed you to break the news to us before any major website or news outlet. Granted it was 15 minutes before but hey, that’s breaking news South Florida blog style!

I agree guys, the postponement really means he is gone. If his heart was here the money would not matter and it would be an easy decision.
