REPORT: Chan Gailey to Become Dolphins Next Head Coach

There is a report circulating out of the United Kingdom (yeah I know it’s a real stretch) that Chan Gailey will be named the next head coach of the Miami Dolphins. The process to fill the Dolphins’ head coaching vacancy following Nick Saban’s departure to Alabama is likely to be over on Thursday, with Gailey leading the race. Obviously a report coming out of the UK about the Phins should be taken with a grain of salt. I find it odd that 790 AM or any other local media outlet would not report this first. From the Daily Mail

Cameron arrived in South Florida on Wednesday evening to talk with officials for a second time and according to sources, who spoke with condition of anonymity, Cameron had a “strong second interview, which is likely to conclude on Thursday morning”. However, sources close to the franchise told Mail Sport On Line that Gailey is still the front runner.

Gailey and Cameron are said to be willing to accept many members of the remaining coaching staff from the Saban era, including defensive chief Dom Capers.

Though the Dolphins are seriously considering Capers for the top post, it is believed that owner Wayne Huizenga and president Bryan Wiedmeier are keen to appoint an offensively-minded coach. (This is great news!!! I wonder if good ole Wayne was actually checking his inbox for suggestions!)

One more very interesting point…

Current offensive co-ordinator Mike Malarkey’s job is under threat and it is highly likely that former Alabama head coach Mike Shula, who interviewed last weekend for the top job, is expected to land a prominent offensive staff position.

Take that for what it’s worth guys. To be honest with you, I am indifferent on our coach. I have been a big supporter of Cam Cameron from the beginning, if only b/c he is offensive minded. I have flip flopped all over the board. From Cowher to Parcells to Mora to Cameron. At this point, just give me a damn coach. If it happens to be Chan, please do not overpay him and allow us to make a switch next season to Coach Chin if need be.

If Chan was hired as the next coach, and he had the staff around him sorted out nicely, what would be your take on him as our next head coach? Bang it in the comments
