Scoreboard Matter
This weekend shaped up to be a good one in the way of sports. Even though the Heat lost and the Panthers are still bottom feeders, the good news of the weekend is that Tom Brady will be sitting at home in his G-String underwear watching the superbowl on TV. I really didn’t want to have to skip the superbowl this year all on account of Tom Brady taking the Patriots to the Superbowl, again. Enough is enough. So we have a tasty Bears/Colts matchup. I can deal with that and have no problem rooting for either team. Shifting to the South Florida scene, it appears the reason for Robert Hite not showing up to Sunday’s Dallas/Heat rematch because he was released on $1,000 bail, according to a Dade-Corrections representative, at 2:11 p.m. Sunday, when the game had already started. Let’s get onto the scores…
Yesterdays Games
- Dallas Mavericks 99, Miami Heat 93 – Jerry Stackhouse regained his scoring touch at the right time for the Dallas Mavericks, helping them finally stave off a comeback attempt by the Miami Heat. Stackhouse — slowly working his way back after spraining his left ankle last month — scored 16 of his 23 points in the final quarter as the Mavericks held on to beat Miami 99-93 on Sunday in the first matchup between the teams since last season’s NBA finals.
- Chicago Bears 39, New Orleans Saints 14 – Dissed all season long, Rex Grossman and Co. are heading to the big game for the first time since 1985 after rolling over the New Orleans Saints 39-14 Sunday, and Da Coach leading them there makes it all the more special. Lovie Smith became the first black head coach to reach the NFL’s marquee game in its 41-year history and roughly four hours later, his good pal and mentor Tony Dungy of the Indianapolis Colts joined him.
- Indianapolis Colts 38, New England Patriots 34 – Manning led the Colts from 18 points down in the second quarter, and on a game-winning 80-yard drive late in the fourth, for a wildly entertaining 38-34 victory Sunday over the New England Patriots in the AFC title game. He took Dungy along for the ride, helping his coach finally get to the big game and make some history along the way. In two weeks, Dungy will join Chicago’s Lovie Smith in the Super Bowl, where together they will be the first black head coaches to meet in the NFL’s biggest game.
Todays Games
- 7:30 p.m.: Knicks-Heat, Sun Sports; WIOD (610), WQBA (1140, Spanish) – The Miami Heat may get a big boost to help them get out of their recent funk, as Shaquille O’Neal could return to the Heat lineup when they host the New York Knicks on Monday. O’Neal underwent surgery to repair torn left knee cartilage Nov. 19 and has missed the last 34 games. The 13-time All-Star has practiced and gone through conditioning drills in recent days, and said he will return when he is “1,000 percent.”
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Make sure you vote in the new fan confidence poll. Hope noone has a case of the “Mondays”

While I’m pretty happy about that, it’s not a visual I want to take in to the Superbowl. Go Bears,…or Colts

Oh no doubt. And not to mention he is probably going to be waited on hand and foot by the supermodel. I would settle for that.
