New Blog Feature — Expand Comments
As you guys know I am always trying to make your SporTech viewing experience a better one. Recently the WordPress development team released there first major release from 2.0.7 to 2.1. I am anxious to provide everyone with the new version as it will provide a much faster viewing experience with some new bells and whistles. I am holding off because both MySQL and PHP need to be upgraded on the back end to make this new version work. Plus the loads of scripts and plugins used on this site need to be upgraded as well for complete compatibility. All that being said I have implemented yet another feature for SporTech that will enhance your experience. Expand comments will allow you to stay on the same page as the article and enter a quick comment. Those that actually do comment on my site will enjoy this nice feature as there is no refreshing or page loading involved. From the script author nymb.us…
The Expand Comments Plugin provides WordPress with the ability to expand the comments of a post below to any point on a page using AJAX. What this means, is that a user can click the “Expand Comments” link, and have the comments be added to the page, no refresh required. The “flow” of the site is not changed (the user can stay on the main blog page) as well as provides a streamlined feel to the blog. As of newer versions, it also has the option ability for users to post comments via Ajax. This means no page redirects/reloads after they press the submit button.
So give the new feature a try and let us know if you have any problems or if you just want to tell JD how pimp he is for implementing another cool feature on SporTech. The link is on the footer of each post listed as Comment Manipulation. Grab your copy for your WordPress blog here. It’s also compatible with Wordpress 2.1!
(Update: It appears the Preview button is not working with this script. Just go ahead and ignore that. I should be able to get that working shortly. Also you will notice there are not gravatars or ability to quote users. This is a known issue that I cannot do anything about. The reply box you see when comments are expanded is meant for quick adding of comments. If you want to quote comments then enter the post by clicking on the comments link or the post heading. I might choose to disable the quick reply box and only have the expand comments option display the comments and hide them. Let me know what your preference is.)
(Update 2: I’ve decided to turn off the comment feature for now and use this simply as a quick view of comments. Should be mighty handy and quicker then loading the whole comment page.)

Thank you for a great plugin, but I am having trouble on 2 of my 4 themes.
It works fine on Wordpress Connections theme and WP-Multiflex-3 theme.
It will not open inline on the Andreas04 and Andreas09 themes. On these 2 themes it refreshes and gives me a new page, just as would happen when you click the edit button..
Any ideas why it won’t open inline??
Thanks in advance.

Martin I will be honest with you I am not the author of this plugin. You might want to check the Wordpress support forums here.
Good luck!
