Saban Confirms Tape is Legit
Many of us thought it was a forgery. His voice sounded legit and his cocky attitude sounded legit, but could anyone believe Nick Saban would be so stupid to have himself on audio tape dropping derogatory terms? Apparently he could. Former Dolphins coach Nick Saban acknowledged Wednesday using a phrase considered derogatory to Cajuns, but said he doesn’t condone such language and merely was repeating something a friend told him. When asked about the LSU fan’s reaction, Saban related a phone call from a friend on the LSU Board of Trustees, whom he did not name. In what seemed to be an attempt at humor, Saban told of the friend’s encounter with an LSU fan, who speaks in a Cajun dialect. Nick Saban issued a statement, basically putting to rest any rumors of the audio being a forgery…
“Those comments need to be placed in the proper context, so as to understand the meaning of what was said,” Saban said. “The words were used in paraphrasing a story told to me by a friend. I was simply using the same wording used by the person who told me the story.
“The term in question is not language that I use or condone, and I can understand how some would take offense. However, I think it must be noted that those comments were made ‘off the record’ and the words merely reflected an anecdote that was told to me using that language.”
The people of Louisiana would disagree with you Slick Nick and I would watch your ass the next time your in Louisiana. What about you guys, did Saban’s comments offend you?
(Update: It looks like Jeff Darlington of the Herald shared the audio file with radio host Orlando Alzugaray, under the assumption that Alzugaray would not broadcast it. Orlando went and broadcasted it anyways. From Darlington…
“In poor judgment, I decided to e-mail another journalist an audio sampling of an interview that took place in Nick Saban’s office,” Darlington said. “Though I did not expect the clip to be used, it was still my responsibility to make sure the audio was never published in any way. I apologize for my bad decision.”
There is also a board member over on TigerBait.com who has admitted to relaying the story to Saban which started the whole fiasco. He does go as far as saying he never used the F word. Nick Saban is looking like even more of a jackass. All this info was gathered from PFT and the Miami Herald)

If you thought Nick didn’t like to say much to the press in the past, I think he’ll be even more closed mouth. I’m surprised that the U. Alabama hasn’t commented as I think Nick’s made things worse with his own. I don’t see this going away too soon, but many are more concerned with the “off the record situation” than Nick himself.

I hope a few of his top recruits turn on him and sign with Miami, UF or FIU!
