Matter Around the Water Cooler
Slow news day leads to a small water cooler. Today Anna Nicole Smith passed away at the Hard Rock Hotel in Ft Lauderdale Florida. I was by no means a fan of Anna Nicole but I do have a heart. On that note my condolences go out to her family and friends. She lead a crazy life and never seemed to get it back on track. If you have a copy of her Playboy issue, whip it out tonight (no pun intended) in honor of her. Let’s check out the water cooler…
- Approximately 160,000 fans have requested half a million tickets in the three days following the announcement that the Dolphins and Giants would play a regular-season game at Wembley Stadium.
- Florida got two players back for the Colorado game — Gary Roberts and Mike Van Ryn — but possibly lost two. Winger Juraj Kolnik returned to Florida for an appointment with an oral surgeon after taking a stick to the mouth during the second period. Center Jozef Stumpel also was injured, banging up an already sore shoulder when he awkwardly hit the ice late in the game.
- Jaques Martin said Belfour will get the start tonight, his seventh consecutive start and 18th in 23 games. Belfour is 9-4-4 in his past 17 starts.
- The Dolphins today named Diron Reynolds defensive line coach and Matt Schiotz strength and conditioning coach.
- I’m not into college sports, or at least do not follow them well, but The Dude from the Miami Sports Dude did a bang up job covering the South Florida signing day activity. Stop by and check out his opinions on the Hurricanes signings and a focus on Demarcus VanDyke.
The Cats are back on the ice tonight. Hopefully they can put something together as they have yet to notch a victory on the road against a west coast team. They take on the Wild tonight. Puck drop is at 8:00 PM EST on FSN Florida.
Have a great evening!
