Rumor: Scottie Pippen to the Heat?!?

This is about as far fetched of a comeback as I have ever heard, but if there is one team in dire need of a backup point guard, the Heat are one of them. At 41 years of age, Scottie Pippen is making a serious push to get back in the league this season to help a contending team in the playoffs. That team could be the Heat…

“I’m thinking of trying to come back for the playoffs,” Pippen said. “Something like the last two months of the season, somewhere I can come back and play limited minutes to start, play point forward for someone and build toward the playoffs. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for the last three months.”

We all know the Heat have been desperate for a point guard with Jason Williams hurt and Gary Payton proving ineffective. Pippen could relieve ball-handling pressure on Dwyane Wade and work inside with Shaquille O’Neal. And he lives in Ft. Lauderdale.

Here’s a little mixtape to remind you how good Pippen was…

Wow. With all the rumors floating around this one seriously takes the cake. Would you welcome the addition of one of the 50 best players ever to the Heat?

(Update: Scottie was on with Lebatard this afternoon. He basically said in not so many words that the Heat are his first choice. Check the interview below)

So after thinking all day about this, I came to the conclusion we need to take a try on Scottie. Riley will know how to use him and will not overuse him if he can’t contribute. I really though the main issue would be him taking away minutes from EJ and Posey, but I do not see Riley allowing that to happen.

Sign Scottie to a 10 day. Riley will know immediately if he can contribute.
