Andre Goodman Has Surgery and Other Dolphin Matter

As you could probably tell once the draft ended so did alot of my coverage of the Phins. Offseason Dolphin talk after the draft really bores me and unfortunately you can’t escape it on the radio. I figured the Dolphin heads were probably a bit lonely and felt left out so here are some recent Dolphin happenings…
- Cornerback Andre Goodman underwent shoulder surgery on Friday and is expected to be out until the start of training camp and could possibly miss some of the beginning of camp. The injury occurred on a noncontact play in pass coverage and was an aggravation of a previous injury suffered last season against the Jets on Dec. 25. This leaves Travis Daniels and Jason Allen to compete for a starting spot.
- Joey Porter’s misdemeanor battery charge for his role in a fight last March in a Las Vegas casino has been continued until May 30, according to a member of the Las Vegas District Attorney office. If convicted, Porter faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine for his alleged attack of Jones, who has categorized Porter’s actions as, “cowardly.” Also, if convicted, Porter faces a potential fine or suspension from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who has instituted a stricter code of conduct for the players to follow.
- The Phinsider breaks down the open competition for the 3rd running back spot now that Ricky Williams job with the Dolphins is up in smoke. Clearly Lorenzo Booker is the number two but who among Patrick Cobbs, Jesse Chatman, and Ray Perkins will step up for number three?
Like I said really slow news wise in the offseason for the Phins. Feel free to peruse the 2007 Dolphin Offseason Tracker and add updates in the comments if anything is missing.
