.500 Or Bust
I’m starting to wonder if the Marlins are using the .500 mark as a spring board for a new losing streak. Every time they start putting things together and approach that holy land called .500, they start to plummet. Tonight marked the second game in a row the Marlins have dropped to the Milwaukee Brewers as Scott Olsen turned in another mediocre performance. Couple of notes from the game…
- Hanley looks to be coming out of his slump putting up a 3-5 with a solo HR and 2 RBI. If he can start to get hot in the three hole this offense will really start clicking.
- Dan Uggla continued his hot hitting going 1-3 with a solo HR and 2 RBI. He did have 2 strikeouts.
- Cabrera went 0-4 tonight and just looked awful in his last at bat in the game. Needless to say Cabs really sucks with 2 outs in the ninth.
- Armando Benitez made his Marlins return throwing a scoreless 8th while walking 1 and striking out 1.
Justin Miller really got hosed in the bottom of the 7th when the Brewers put up a 3 spot. With 2 strikes to Kevin Mench he threw a beautiful fastball to paint the corner. Ump didn’t budge. Next pitch was drilled into the corner for a bases clearing double. He might have gotten screwed on that call but he didn’t make the pitch he should have after it. Live and learn.
Game 3 is tomorrow. BK takes the mound against Chris Capuano.
Extra Matter: Benitez wears No. 49, his old uniform number, thanks to RHP Byung-Hyun Kim who switched to No. 38. … In the fourth inning, rain leaked through the closed Miller Park roof and forced a few fans to vacate their seats in the second level behind home plate.
Recap: Brewers fry Fish by scoring 3 late
