Weekly Trent Green Update
As the Dolphin’s move closer to acquiring Trent Green from the Chiefs, they may have taken a step in the right direction by sweetening the offer to the Chiefs a bit. While the Chiefs did not accept the new and improved offer, Green’s agent remains confident that a deal is close to getting done. Barry Jackson reports in his Herald column…
”I think we will get a deal done,” Steiner said. “There have been a lot of conversations.”
But Steiner said he has no idea when Green will become a Dolphin or whether it will be in time for the team’s final minicamp June 8-10.
According to Steiner, the Dolphins offered a conditional sixth-round pick that would become a fifth-rounder if Green meets certain undisclosed conditions. But the Chiefs have asked for a fourth-round pick. Meanwhile Carl Peterson is off somewhere sipping girlie alcoholic beverages while one of the classiest players in Chiefs history sits on his hands and his family stays in a state of flux on where they will be next season.
Do the right thing and stop being a stubborn bastard Carl.
Trent Green recently called into the Dan Lebatard show and gave his insight to the dealings between the Phins and Chiefs. Click here to launch the 790 audio player.
Palm Beach Post Update: The Palm Beach Post’s Greg Bedard believes the Chiefs are “really dug in” to their demands of a fourth-round pick in exchange for Trent Green. Bedard says that Miami’s offer to up compensation from a sixth-round pick to a conditional sixth-rounder, “no progress has been made” and the Chiefs “greeted it with a yawn.” He does hint that a full fifth-rounder might do the trick. Carl Peterson, please step on a rusty nail.
