Health/Transaction Matter: Hank Down, Gardner Up

The Florida Marlins placed right-handed reliever Henry Owens on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with inflammation in his right shoulder. The move is retroactive to June 9. To take his spot on the roster, the Marlins recalled right-hander Lee Gardner from Triple A Albuquerque. Gardner, who last appeared with the Marlins on May 30, is 1-2 with a 3.58 ERA in 22 games this season.

Also Wednesday, the Marlins claimed left-hander Chris Seddon off waivers from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and assigned him to Carolina, their Double A affiliate.

The big club did a good job keeping this quiet. I had no idea Hank was having arm problems again as displayed in my Did You Know? post earlier today.
