Michael Barrett could be on his way out of Chicago, mostly because of his defense. Rosenthal names the Marlins and Rockies as interested parties.
Personally, I have always liked Barrett only because he has a decent bat. His defense leaves little to be desired. One thing I would hate for this guy to do is come in here and screw up the way our pitchers have been handled up to now. I can already picture Scott Olsen giving him a black eye.
I say pass and give Matty more playing time as he brings a better approach to the plate than Olivo. Olivo and Matty both call a good game and are more than adequate defensively. Olivo has a very inconsistent bat and looks absolutely lost at the plate 80% of the time. He has been driving me up the wall all season long.
I am waiting for one day when a pitcher throws a pitch out and Olivo swings at it. It will happen, I promise.
Note: Looks like Olivo reads MLBTR as he scorched the Royals this weekend.
