Series Preview: Twins @ Marlins

TWINKIES, WHAT A FUN SNACK

Today marks the first of a nine-game, 10-day homestand against the Twins (3g), Pirates (3g) and Braves (3g). The Fish return home, after going 3-3 on a trip to Kansas City (1-2) and Chicago-AL (2-1). They went 2-4 on their last homestand against Tampa Bay (1-2) and Cleveland (1-2). After this homestand, the Fish will start a seven-day trip to San Diego (June 2-5) and Los Angeles-NL (June 6-8), then they will have a four-day All-Star Break from July 9-12.

TWINS ON THE RISE

After starting the month of June with a 2-6 record, the Twins have gone 7-3 in their last 10 games…through the irst eight games of the month they batted .216 with three doubles, one triple, eight homers and 23 rbi with a .275 on-base percentage…they hit just .255 (12-for-47) with runners in scoring position…in their past 10 games, they are batting .270 with 18 doubles, three triples, seven homers and 49 rbi with a .324 on-base percentage…they are batting .317 (33-for-104) with runners in scoring position during that stretch.

CHAMPIONSHIP REC

Two members of the 1997 World Champion Marlins will be recognized this series during pre-game ceremonies. Robb Nen will be honored tonight, and Luis Castillo will be recognized tomorrow.

Saturday: Carlos Silva, RHP (4-8, 4.20) @ Josh Johnson, RHP (0-1, 9.82)

Now is the time to make our move. The NL East is up for the taking as the Mets and Braves have shown they don’t care to run away with things. The way to start is to get off on the right foot against Boof.

First pitch of game one is at 7:05 PM EST from Dolphin Stadium. Scott Olsen looks to strikeout Luis Castillo for the first out of the game.
