Kapono to the Raptors Eh?

Jason Kapono wasted no time in free agency this season and took advantage of a season that saw him lead in the league in 3 point field goal percentage and winner of the 2007 three point shooting contest. Kapono has reached an agreement to move north of the border and play for the Toronto Raptors. ESPN’s Marc Stein breaks the report…

Free agent sharpshooter Jason Kapono has quickly reached an agreement Sunday to leave the Miami Heat and sign a four-year deal believed to be worth $24 million with the Toronto Raptors.

Good for Jason. We had some good times in Miami with J-Kap but he is no where close to being worth this kind of change. Leave it up to Toronto to dish out another ridiculous contract so J-Kap can wind up sitting on the bench drooling at Chris Bosh.

I’m not bitter, I just find it funny athletes would enjoy playing sports in Canada besides hockey. I guess 24 million would easily convince you.

Good luck to Jason. Just for fun, enjoy My Kapono once more.

You would be surprised how many athletes love the international flavor of the fifth largest city in north america. Whether it be baseball, hockey or basketball. When examining the ratio of population that the USA makes up out of the world…. Its not hard to imagine that some people living south of the border with the “center of the universe mentallity” could loose sight of what goes on outside the borders.

You also should review the success rate of Colangelo choosng his understated talents from around the league. The sum of the teams parts is what Colangelo is chasing not individual ability.

Lets see how the team fairs this year with the style of play designed by the leadership. I believe Kapono will fit perfectly into the european system of play.

    Cheers.

Nothing against Canada. I just find Miami and Canada two completely different places. Regardless, you guys are going to love having J-Kap on your team. I’m not doubting the success rate of Colangelo but I’m not ready to anoint him the next Billy Beane.

The Raptors are an up and coming team and Kap should fit right in. I’m not ignorant to what goes on outside of this country but common sense to me says South Beach is a much more desirable place to live for an athlete. Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks for stopping by.
