Goldie and Moller Break Down the Offseason, Other Bits

Courtesy of Growl TV Steve Goldstein and Randy Moller take a look at the free agency moves the Panther’s made this offseason. Also, as preseason hockey approaches (I know I’m excited) the Panther’s have released their preseason schedule and it looks as follows:

Sun. Sept. 16 @ Calgary Flames (Pengrowth Saddledome) 9 p.m.
Mon. Sept. 17 @ Edmonton Oilers (Rexall Place) 9 p.m.
Tues. Sept. 18 vs. Calgary Flames* (Credit Union Centre) 9 p.m.
Thu. Sept. 20 @ Chicago Blackhawks (United Center) 8 p.m.
Tues. Sept. 25 vs. Chicago (BankAtlantic Center) 12 p.m.
Wed. Sept. 26 vs. Atlanta Thrashers (BankAtlantic Center) 7:30 p.m.
Fri. Sept. 28 @ Atlanta Thrashers (Phillips Arena) 7:30 p.m.
*In Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Per Brian Biggane’s Palm Beach Post Panther blog

Jacques Martin said he’s been speaking with Pat Morris, the agent for Stephen Weiss, “almost on a daily basis” for the past week or so and that a long-term deal is close.
Doing a similar deal with Jay Bouwmeester is also on Martin’s to-do list, but first he wants to resolve the Steve Montador situation. Montador has filed for arbitration and will have a hearing on Aug. 3 unless the two sides can agree on a deal.
All indications are Steve Goldstein will replace Dave Strader as the Panthers’ new play-by-play broadcaster.
The NHL will release its 2007-08 schedule on Wednesday and one insider said the Panthers will have a difficult opening month.

For those who made it out to the cookout to meet Brett McClean and Tomas Vokoun I hope you had a good time. For those who couldn’t make it check out a recap and photo gallery.

Enjoy!
