Series Preview: Reds @ Marlins

SOME DUDE WHO JACKS HR’S PAYS A VISIT THIS WEEKEND

The Marlins and Reds begin a four-game series at Dolphin Stadium. Today marks the first of 7g between the clubs this season. They will play Aug. 24-26 in Cincy. The Fish are 53-67 (26-31 home) all-time against the Reds, including 2-4 (1-2 home) last season.

SUPERMAN PLAYING THE PERCENTAGES

Kevin Gregg has converted 20×21 (95.2%) save opps this season. He is tied with Billy Wagner (20×21/ 95.2%) for the highest save percentage in the NL, third in the Majors behind J.J. Putz (28×28/ 100%) and Jonathan Papelbon (21×22/ 95.5 %).

STARTERS ARE EN FUEGO

On this road trip Reds starters are 3-2, 3.25 (44.1ip, 16er, 3hr) with 5 quality starts in 7g…in 6 of the 7 starts allowed 3 runs or fewer…in the last 3g Reds starters are 2-0, 1.83 (19.2ip, 4er).

PITCHING MATCHUPS

Thursday: Matt Belisle, RHP (5-6, 5.02) @ Sergio Mitre, RHP (4-4, 2.81)
Friday: Kyle Lohse, RHP (5-11, 4.68) @ Scott Olsen, LHP (7-7, 5.15)
Saturday: Bobby Livingston, LHP (2-0, 3.18) @ Byung-Hyun Kim, RHP (4-5, 5.18)
Sunday: Bronson Arroyo, RHP (4-10, 4.51) @ Rick Vanden Hurk, RHP (3-2, 7.15)

This homestand looked promising on paper but so far these sub .500 teams that have visited this week have handled the Fish pretty well. The Reds are one of the worst teams in the league and just happen to be playing their best baseball of the season.

Sergio Mitre looks to play the part of stopper tonight. He starts his evening at 7:05 PM EST.

As always GO FISH!!!
