Transaction Matter: Marlins Snag an Extra Catcher

Just a small transaction note from this weekend. The Marlins signed catcher Jason Phillips on Sunday and assigned him to Triple-A Albuquerque. Phillips this season appeared in 55 games for the Toronto Blue Jays, hitting .208 with a homer and 12 RBI. In parts of seven big-league seasons, including his first four with the Mets, Phillips is a .248 hitter.

Any catcher being brought in is a good idea to me. I have said before, Miguel Olivo is not the long term option.
