Report: Joey Porter Underwent Surgery, Out Until Week 1
Joey Porter has been on the sidelines all weekend during Dolphin’s training camp and it’s no secret that Cam Cameron is a tad worried about his prized offseason acquisition. Cam has been saying that Joey’s knee will be reevaluated today but the real truth is that the only thing that is going to be evaluated is game tape, by Joey Porter sitting it out until week 1 of the regular season. PFT breaks the story…
In response to our item from earlier on Sunday, in which we mentioned that we recently received a tip that Miami linebacker Joey Porter already has had arthroscopic surgery on his ailing right knee, a league source says that Porter has indeed undergone the procedure, and that he’s likely out until the regular season opens.
I’m not sure if this is a big deal but what is more interesting is the fact that Cam has been keeping this a secret? Perhaps he is just as sick of all the negative press surrounding this team in the offseason as I am. Or perhaps he truly is worried that we are going to suck.
The latter is definitely not a long shot.
Update: Though Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter, who missed practices Friday night and Saturday afternoon with a right knee problem, was missing from Monday morning’s practice, a Dolphins spokesman called a report from ProFootballTalk.com that Porter had arthroscopic surgery on the knee ”inaccurate.” Porter missed a day during minicamp with knee problems.
