2008 Rotoworld Projected Marlins Roster
Rotoworld is running a column this week making predictions on all MLB teams projected rosters for the 2008 seasons with a brief explanation of potential trades and free agent moves. Of course, I am going to feature the Marlins projected roster. Let’s first look at what they think the starting lineup for 2008 will be…
SS Hanley Ramirez
2B Dan Uggla
RF Jeremy Hermida
3B Miguel Cabrera
LF Josh Willingham
1B Mike Jacobs
C Gerald Laird
CF Corey Patterson
Dontrelle Willis
Sergio Mitre
Rick VandenHurk
Philip Humber
Ricky Nolasco/Anibal Sanchez
Matt Lindstrom
Taylor Tankersley
Eddie Guardado
One of the most interesting parts of the breakdown includes the shipping out of Scott Olsen, Miguel Olivo and Kevin Gregg. I can’t really say I disagree with the moves…
To get another young starter, the Marlins should make Kevin Gregg available. He’s cheap and he’s sort of proven he can close, so there would be a fair amount of demand. I have the Mets giving up Philip Humber and Anderson Hernandez for him. Matt Lindstrom would be the heavy favorite to replace him in the closer’s role. Olsen goers to Texas for Gerald Laird and a catcher of the future in Taylor Teagarden. Miguel Olivo gets non-tendered to make room. That’s likely to happen anyway.
Now mind you I do not think Kevin Gregg will come close to his numbers of this year but getting Humber AND Hernandez from the Mets for him would be a steal. Seeing the Mets will probably be desperate for bullepn help, this might be a possibility. Hey, we ripped them off before, we can do it again.
Olivo’s days in Florida are definitely over and Gerald Laird would be a great replacement for Miguel. Check the rest of the 2008 projection here.
