Could More be Coming?
Interesting quote from Pat Riley after the completion of the Fatty-Salmonella-Ricky Davis-Blunt trade regarding where the Heat are and where they are going to be. It seems as though Pat Riley still has some deals in the works, and Mike Bibby might be that deal.
Riley said the Heat had “two or three” other deals it had been working on in addition to Davis and that the team would continue to seek other trades.
Not sure if you guys stop by RealGM to catch up on Heat news at all but a user on the Heat boards posted an interesting rumor. Now mind you I have come here before and given you asinine rumors from guys who say they know individuals within the organization and those rumors fall flat on their collective faces. I do believe that Pat Riley has a thing for Mike Bibby as there have been trade rumors the past few years. The user from RealGM reveals the following rumor…
That comment by Riley about the two or three other trades in the works is very, very interesting. Right before I read that story, I got this text message from a friend who works for the Heat organization.
Bibby for jwill and wright…We’re going back and forth with sacramento apparently deal is on the table and we’re trying to get it done….
FWIW.
According to the ESPN trade machine (as you can see below) this trade works. It also makes sense. Mike Bibby kills it from behind the arc and has the ability to stay healthier than J-Will. It also means were are giving up on the Dorrell Wright Project. I’m pretty upset Dorrell couldn’t come through in the preseason and looks like he will be relegated to trying to impress Pat Riley, again. Also worth noting, T-Wolves GM Kevin McIGivetheHeatSalaryRelief says that Wayne Simien will not be brought in and likely released.
Would you like Wayne and his Salmonella back? Would you also be for or against giving up on Dorrell Wright?
Update: The Kings announced Saturday that point guard Mike Bibby underwent successful surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb. The procedure was performed by Dr. Robert Szabo at the UC Davis Medical Center.
Bibby is expected to miss 10-12 weeks and will begin rehabilitation immediately.
