Miggy Watch 2007 - Yankees Balk
This is becoming a huge topic to me and I’m riding the fence on my Marlins fan hood if Miguel Cabrera is traded away this offseason. I probably sound like a bad fan but I’ve put up with the crap that has been pulled with this organization for close to 10 years now. I can’t stand it no more. I would love to be able to hang my Marlins pride on a franchise player, or even buy a damn jersey for a guy who can stick around for more than 5 years. It’s pretty sad what this team has come too and the recycling of players, only for Jeffrey Loria to get a cheap thrill out of a superstar every other year is becoming tiresome. That being said, I’m going to do my best to keep those remaining Marlin fans abreast of all Miguel Cabrera trade rumors and updates. Each day I will scour the rumor mill and check the updates from the GM meetings in Orlando. I find it funny that teams that HAVE third baseman will probably be interested because they realize something like this doesn’t come along every offseason. Anyways, let’s get to today’s updates.
Wednesday’s Updates…
- Brian Cashman met with the Marlins at about 6 p.m. last night at the GM meetings. No offers were made, but a source with knowledge of the situation said the Marlins made it clear that the Yankees would have to include either Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain or Ian Kennedy in any trade for Cabrera, something the Yankees are not willing to do.
The Yankees would likely offer a deal involving their next tier of prospects, which includes Alan Horne, Humberto Sanchez, Ross Ohlendorf and Jose Tabata.
- Several teams are interested in Cabrera, but the Chicago White Sox might engage in the most serious trade discussions. He is close friends with his Venezuelan countryman, White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, who was a Marlins coach when Cabrera was a rookie. The Marlins are shopping Cabrera because of his salary as well as their concerns about his weight and attitude. When the Marlins played an interleague series in Chicago in June, Guillen hosted Cabrera at his home and scolded the slugger about his weight.
Should it really be a damn surprise that people are lining up to talk to Beinfest about Cabrera? No it shouldn’t because they realize what a bunch of freakin morons the Marlins are for wanting to get rid of one of the best in the game because he DESERVES 10+ million a year and likes to eat empanada’s.
Jeffrey Loria, you are an ass sir.
