No Ricky No Cry

The news just keeps rolling in for the Miami Dolphins this morning. Whether he is allowed to rejoin the Dolphins this season or not, Ricky Williams has been officially reinstated by Roger Goodell after missing the last 18 months of the season due to violating the league’s substance abuse policy. ESPN NFL guru Chris Mortensen breaks the news

The Dolphins have been notified of the commissioner’s decision. It is unknown if the team will welcome him back but it is expected they will have a two-week roster exemption to make that decision.

What to do with Ricky. Who know’s what the hell Ricky even looks like at this point in his life? I think it would be wise for the Dolphins to explore all options with Ricky and even consider allowing him to play this season out if only to showcase him for an offseason trade. ((I’m not really sure of Ricky’s contract situation or if and when he is actually allowed to be traded or released. I’m also curious if he is under our control next season as well. Commenters speak up!))

I think we are set at running back and if someone would be willing to part with any kind of draft compensation for Ricky, we should take it.

That being said I hope he keeps his head clean this time. Knowing the Dolphins and the way they work, he will wind up on the Patriots and help them win the super bowl. Screw you Boston.

It really wouldn’t surprise me especially after Chris Mortensen reports…

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen mentioned the Rams and Patriots as two possible landing spots.

    Pats can suck it.

The deal he originally signed would’ve ended in 2007 with a base salary of $720,000, so there was some confusion about where he stood after being out of the game for one and a half years. The Dolphins will be able to trade him in the offseason if they so choose. It’s uncertain whether the some $7 million Williams owes the club could affect its decision to part ways with him.
