Celtics Nip Heat, Drop To 1-8

Recap | Boxscore | Video | Photos
I’m pretty sure the Heat did not walk away from last nights loss to the Celtics feeling any better about themselves. Wade’s long jumper over former teammate James Posey bounced off the back of the rim with 1.2 seconds left, allowing the Celtics to escape with a 92-91 victory Friday at TD Banknorth Garden. The Heat (1-8) came back from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter, and played perhaps its best game of an otherwise frustrating season.
The Celtics did not play their best game of the season but still looked damn good. This team is not a fluke as the preseason worries I had about them not having enough depth seems to be tossed out the window. They have a healthy 8 man rotation. The one thing I would worry about is the amount of minutes the “Big Three” are getting this early in the season.
Once again poor free throw shooting doomed the Heat. They made 16 of 28 shots from behind the charity stripe. If the Heat are going to start winning close games, or games at all for that matter, they are going to have to improve from the line.
The Heat travel to New Jersey tonight for a game against the Nets. Tip is at 7:30 PM.
