Quit Yer Crying, Marlins Demolish Shea Stadium

The Marlins played spoiler again and it couldn’t taste any better. It’s a story that couldn’t have been written any better. Ex Brewer (who gets booed plenty when he returns to Milwaukee) Wes Helms hit the go ahead shot to secure the Brewers into the playoffs. Your welcome Brew crew, now send that team a Brat or two.
The real story here is the fanbase that supports the Mets. I do not think in my 20+ years of watching baseball have ever experienced a more pissed off, classless bunch of fans. All I have been reading all day are the endless amounts of blog posts and comments from Mets fans crying about the Marlins “celebrating” the collapse of the Mets on their beloved field. Comments like they were “acting like kids” or “didn’t know how to respect the game” or “were partying on like little leaguers” really grind my gears. Rich and Tommy said it best, “Celebrate all you want!”. Do we really think the Marlins were celebrating b/c they destroyed the hopes and dreams of every New York Mets fan, for the second season in a row? Or perhaps it was for other reasons as well. They were also celebrating like little leaguers for having a great season when no one expected them to finish over .500. Hell half the “experts” picked a young team like them to lose over 100 games. They happened to finish with the 3rd best record in franchise history. They celebrated a great season and deserved to do so, whether it was at Shea or in front of 10,000 fans at Dolphin Stadium.
What I think most of you “Mets” fans fail to realize is that during the on field celebration a lot of the Marlins players including Jorge Cantu and Wes Helms were helping Mets fans collect infield dirt as a memento to take with them. Using water bottles and cups and handing them to fans and kids in the front row. So while you people use your sadness of losing again to berate Marlins players and fans, try to keep your cool and show some classiness. It’s not the Marlins fault the Mets choked again, it’s the Mets fault. Were they the better team than the Marlins? The standings show only 5 wins better. If they were the better team then they should have proven it and won.
It’s time to grow up people, life goes on and you guys sure do show up as classless losers.

Wow. Have a little respect. It was an emotional day for all Met fans, not only because of the game’s outcome, but also because it was the last game at Shea. And to hear that punks like Hanley Ramirez were talking trash on the field in front of Hall of Famers like Tom Seaver and members of the ‘86 team is my definition of classless. The Busch League antics that were demonstrated after such a heartbreaking loss were not only uncalled for, but the true definition of “classless losers.” Maybe you should ask some Marlins fans how they would feel if the situation were reversed. Oh wait, the Marlins don’t have any fans… which would explain why the far from sellout crowds at Dolphin Stadium are filled up with Met fans whenever the two teams meet up.
