The Panther’s found a way to blow a 2 goal lead last night for the second straight game, meanwhile the Carolina Divers managed to steal a point from the Bruins in a shootout loss. This team is soft, has no depth and has no balls when it comes to locking down the opponent in the third period. I was getting rather excited for the prospect of ONE South Florida team to finally have success this year, but that looks like it’s going down the toilet. Jacques Martin needs to be fired. Plain and simple. The old adage of the Florida Panthers is defense. The problem is trying to play just defense without mounting any kind of offensive attack in the third period spells doom when your playing the high octane Penguins. Comments like this coming from Panther players post game is a true sign this team is not being coached right…
“We stuck to our game plan early and often and were doing the little things correctly,” Florida defenseman Bryan Allen said. “But for whatever reason, we’re kind of almost scared out there to play confident and stick to the system, and we turned the puck over and missed assignments and then the puck is in the net a few times.”
Scared up 2-0 in the third? This team is soft.
We need some more depth on this team and an enforcer. I am not counting this team out yet b/c of the weak Southeast Division, but if they managed to slip into the playoffs they will not be ready for what will hit them.

It’s one thing to drop a tough loss to the up and coming Atlanta Hawks but it’s another thing to lose the heart and soul of your team in the process. In last night’s loss, Alonzo Mourning went down and went down hard after attempting to block a Hawks players shot. Zo stayed down for several minutes with what appeared to be a knee injury. Replays showed that as Zo went up for the block his knees buckled which led to him going down. Zo laid on the floor for several minutes pounding his fist into the hardwood. He looked up at UD and explained…
‘It’s over. It’s over,’ “
Man that’s the last thing you want to hear Zo say looking up to you from the floor clutching his knee in agony. The report came back from the locker room and the report was not a good one…
Center Alonzo Mourning, arguably the most significant player in the franchise’s 20 seasons, was lost in the first quarter with a torn patella tendon in his right knee.
It is an injury that could require up to six months of post-surgical recovery, which does not bode well for a 37-year-old kidney-transplant recipient.
Hall of Fame guard Magic Johnson, who was sitting courtside, visited with Mourning, saying that the center recognized his 15-year career could be over.
“I said, ‘Hold your head up high. You over-delivered to the fans, to the city of Miami. You should be proud of yourself. You gave the game 150 percent of yourself and of your body,’ ” Johnson said. Johnson said he tried to ease Mourning’s pain.
“I told him, ‘You know what? Life is not bad after basketball. You’ll find out wearing a suit every day is not too bad,’ ” Johnson said, “and I saw the big smile come across his face.”
I for one hope Zo can make a return this season just so the Miami fans can give you a standing ovation and send off at the AAA the way you deserve it.
The Heat are back home tonight facing the Nets.

Last night’s Heat/Wolves game was one of the worst played games I have ever seen in my 29 years of being alive. Although the Heat came out on top with a 91-87 victory, due in large part to a flurry of Zo offensive rebounds late in the game, they looked out of sync the entire game and Shaq continues to look clumsier than ever down low. D-Wade overcame a slow start and 6-of-22 shooting effort from the field by making a season-high 18 of 20 free throws, including a pair that tied it at 72-72. The Crushernaut came through with 18 points and 16 rebounds.
Sadly, Antoine Walker was a scratch due to an injury but we did get to see our old friend Michael Doleac. Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson quietly turned in his 17th double-double of the season on Monday, scoring 22 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in the loss to Miami. That kid is an absolute freak.
This team needs to get on track ASAP because they are going nowhere fast. Minnesota basically handed this game to the Heat due to their inexperience in crunch time.
The Heat travel to Atlanta to take on the Hawks Wednesday night.
First off I want to give a big “Up Yours” to Sid Rosenberg on 790 The Ticket who’s New York annoying ass is trying to take away the fact that Dolphin fans are celebrating their first win since 2006. You should be glad you actually have a radio show after the crap you have pulled throughout your life. You sir need to get over yourself. That being said…
WE ACTUALLY WON A DAMN GAME AND GREG CAMARILLO IS A GOLDEN GOD!
For once, Sunday was a good day. To anyone who feels like coming here and dropping negativity about my Dolphins, save it for another day.
There is no classification for this level of sucktitude the Dolphins have sunk too. The best way to express how the Dolphins as a team and organization suck, is to get the opinions from die hard fans and players and put them into one fun filled post. So here we go…
Let’s get it started with a quote from the Morman himself who was pretty out of his element after the game…
“Crap’s going to happen and today crap happened,” said Beck, and that’s a direct, untouched quote from a Mormon who probably uses nothing stronger to voice his disgust.
The guy’s definitely understand the history they are looking at right now but would rather worry about themselves then their leader…
“I have no idea where this puts Cam,” veteran Miami defensive tackle Keith Traylor said. “I definitely care, but would I lose any sleep over any way it went? No, it’s a bad situation we’re all in right now.”
“To be honest, I’m not worried about his job security,” cornerback Will Allen said of Cameron. “I worry about my own job security.
Deadspin makes a nice comparison between Beck and Bonderman. Way to give us hope Leitch!!
The Dolphins definitively have the look of a team that will go winless. It’s kind of exciting to watch; we wonder if John Beck will be the NFL’s equivalent of Jeremy Bonderman, a guy who has a historically bad rookie season and matures into a decent player.
The Dude at FinsNation relays his thoughts rather eloquently…
In the end, it was just a full-bodied beat down to the tune of 40 damn points. During the 4th quarter, I almost expected the Jets players to jump into the stands to give us each a personal fist up the ass. Because, really, that’s pretty much all that was left for them to do at that point.
Matty over at the Phinsider has all but given up on a win this season…
Totally defeated. That’s likely how the 2007 Miami Dolphins will be defined in history. Considering the events of today’s game, how could anyone possibly think this team could win a football game in 2007? They lost to arguably the 2nd worst football team in the NFL today by 27 points in their own damn stadium. How in the world can they expect to beat any of the teams remaining on their schedule? I don’t know. Maybe once I get over this loss later in the week, I’ll be able to find some hope for a win this year. But right now, I just don’t see it.
Cam Cameron thought his team was ready or perhaps he is just over his head…
The Dolphins had every chance to rob the Jets of a celebration. The Dolphins were at home. And coach Cameron said his team was ”ready to play,” which would suggest the Dolphins should have opened this game riding a wave of emotion so large it should have made the Bonzai Pipeline envious. But as has been one of his failings this year, Cameron misread his team. Miami was, instead, unprepared, unmotivated and unemotional. The Jets came out in their throwback uniforms. The Dolphins came out and threw up on their uniforms.
The Jets knew what they were in for as they heard Dolphins players whooping it up that “this is their week to win one” and Chris Baker was having none of it…
‘We started hearing, `Oh, this is their chance to win, this is their chance.’ We wanted to come out and show them that this isn’t the game that they’re going to win,” Jets tight end Chris Baker said. “That’s how we went about it throughout the week.”
Jason Taylor kept up his usual blahzay attitude in the locker room post game…
”They [stink] too,” Miami defensive end Jason Taylor grumbled after this thorough 40-13 whipping. “But they beat us. They go home happy.”
Rick over on SOTP points out that this morning, all was good in the land of the Dolphin fan. He also got some great pictures from the game…
I don’t think I can express my feelings any better than the above quotes. Sitting on my couch yesterday shoving Annie’s chicken wings into my mouth I couldn’t help but wonder what the state of South Florida sports is coming too. You can smell the medicrity coming out of South Florida and it’s not just the Dolphins winless funk or the smell of my buddy over on the other couch. My buddy said to me after yesterday’s loss, do you think they will put something in Dolphin Stadium signifying “The Defeated Season”. I said yes they should, and put it right under the urinals in the 400 section.
I’m really lost on what to do with this team. Everyone says we have major holes to fill and that it will take a few years before we even become somewhat contenders. But is that really the case? Haven’t we had holes in the past that needed to be plugged to be contenders, only to plug them up and take a step backwards?
It’s becoming apparent to me that the owners of South Florida sports teams are simply businessmen and do not care about building tradition or a winning product. You can preach to me night and day about Wayne Huizenga’s dedication to the Dolphins and the love he has for his team. But ask yourself, is it his team he loves or that green stack of money they bring in everyday for him? Is there any wonder why a man like Jeffrey Loria, who to you and me is very wealthy, would rather buy a new painting and donate money to Yale University before investing in his number one business venture, The Florida Marlins. No surprise ESPN ranks him in their top 10 greediest owners.
Who’s to tell Wayne he is fired? Who is doing the evaluation of the owner? Do we fire the coach and start all over like we always do? The culture down here is pathetic. Until these things are resolved, the Phins ain’t going nowhere.

Getting a late start here today but had to drop a line about the Heat last night who blew out the Bobcats 110-90. It was one of the better played games of the season and came on the heels of major shakeups to the lineup. Ricky Davis was brought off the bench and Penny Hardaway got the starting nod in his place. That move seemed to payoff as Rick Dees had one of his better games as a Heatian. Chris Quinn got the starting nod for J-Will and Williams responded with 11 points and 8 assists. Couple of things I noticed from the game.
- Daequan Cook, no matter how young, needs to be part of this rotation on a nightly basis. The kid can flat out shoot.
- We should seriously explore the idea of getting whatever we can for Dorrell Wright because it’s clear this kid just doesn’t fit in Pat Riley’s system.
- Smush Parker was inactive b/c of legal issues which do not stem from any arrest. Smush should not be sniffing the court at all.
- If Pat Riley is going to make a change in the lineup and it works like last night, we should explore sticking with the changes rather than trying to send a message. I hate it when Riles has something working one night and deviates from it the next.
D-Wade couldn’t have said it any better after the game. “I can’t remember the last victory we had like this”.

Yep, that’s how it pretty much went down at the BAC last night. NHL dubbed this their “Game of the Night” as the Cats won in a shootout while Tomas Vokoun stopped all 5 breakaways.
The Cats have now won 3 in a row. I’d like to thank Mike Kennan who has finally done something for the Florida Panthers by pissing them off after starting rumors about Olli Jokinen being traded.
Man up Keenan, your not getting Olli.
BTW I really recommend checking out the video highlights for this exciting finish.

Yesterday went as expected. The Dolphins lost, John Beck kept us in the game and Cam Cameron’s play calling at the end of the game doomed the Dolphins from making a legitimate run at a win in the fourth. John Beck looked like a rookie and at times looked very nervous after receiving the snap from the center.
Pro’s and Con’s of yesterdays game in Philly…
Pro’s
- Ted Ginn finally scored his first return touchdown of the season. Man that kid hits the hole hard and burns once he turns up field. I’ll have video a little later of Teddy’s run.
- John Beck didn’t wow us, but he didn’t make me throw my Ricky Williams bobble head through the TV either. He had a quick release, did not hold onto the ball to long and made some quick accurate throws while being harassed by the Eagles defense.
- With the exception of the goal line stand the Eagles made on us in the fourth quarter, the offensive line continues to make strides.
Con’s
- The defense allows Brian Westbrook to have a career day. Those who didn’t see this one coming need to take off the Dolphin colored glasses. Enough already allowing the big play when it hurts.
- Cam Cameron’s play call of a misdirection on the goal line wtih 4th and 1. Why go back 6 yards when you need 1?
- Allowing the pornstached AJ Feeley orchestrate a 77-yard touchdown drive in the fourth quarter.
I thought John Beck did everything I expected him too. He didn’t lose the game for us nor did he win it for us. I only expect him to get better and having his face to tough defenses to start off might help his progression. At this point the losses are expected and I’m simply watching the games for flashes of improvement on both sides of the ball.
Hey the good news is the Jets beat the Steelers this week so anything is possible. That just means when we play them in Pittsburgh on Monday night for the world to see, they will have some fuel to beat our asses even worse then if they didn’t lose to the Jets.
Oh the life of the Dolphin fan. The good news is we have turkey, beer, and football on Thursday.
Your thought’s on yesterday’s performance?

I’m pretty sure the Heat did not walk away from last nights loss to the Celtics feeling any better about themselves. Wade’s long jumper over former teammate James Posey bounced off the back of the rim with 1.2 seconds left, allowing the Celtics to escape with a 92-91 victory Friday at TD Banknorth Garden. The Heat (1-8) came back from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter, and played perhaps its best game of an otherwise frustrating season.
The Celtics did not play their best game of the season but still looked damn good. This team is not a fluke as the preseason worries I had about them not having enough depth seems to be tossed out the window. They have a healthy 8 man rotation. The one thing I would worry about is the amount of minutes the “Big Three” are getting this early in the season.
Once again poor free throw shooting doomed the Heat. They made 16 of 28 shots from behind the charity stripe. If the Heat are going to start winning close games, or games at all for that matter, they are going to have to improve from the line.
The Heat travel to New Jersey tonight for a game against the Nets. Tip is at 7:30 PM.
