Zach Thomas recently appeared on a Mike and Kevin’s talk radio show in Dallas and had the following to say regarding his decision to go to Dallas.

Question: You were looking to join a SuperBowl contender, and the Patriots offered you a contract. Why didn’t you take their offer.

Thomas: I played against New England twice a year every year my whole career. I learned to not like that team. I wasn’t going to join them.

There goes ZT, Patriot playbook in hand.
There goes ZT, Patriot playbook in hand.

Anyone else find it disturbing teams are lining up to visit with Zach Thomas? Is there a rule where all front office personel for any South Florida team has to suck at evaluating talent?

Just thinking out loud.

In a move that may shock some the Dolphins released some key components today from last years squad. The Miami Dolphins website is reporting the following…

The Miami Dolphins today terminated the contracts of wide receiver Marty Booker, quarterback Trent Green, tackle L.J. Shelton and defensive tackle Keith Traylor, the team announced. In addition, the team waived tackle Anthony Alabi, defensive tackle Anthony Bryant, tackle Marion Dukes, defensive tackle Marquay Love and tackle Joe Toledo.

I’m actually surprised by some of the players released today. I actually though Shelton had shown some improvement last season and may be up for a spot in training camp. New GM Jeff Ireland released the following statement regarding the recently released Phins…

“This is never easy, especially since all of these players worked hard during their tenure here,” Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland said. “In particular, in the case of each of the veterans, it’s especially difficult to release players who have been productive and valued members of the organization. However, we feel these decisions are in the best interest of the team.

“I want to thank all of them for their contributions to the Dolphins and wish them good luck.”

I’ve maintained the thought that I will not complain about any move this new regime makes this offseason b/c frankly they were brought here for a reason, to fix this mess. Who am I to say Bill Parcells are Jeff Ireland are making the WRONG moves. Only time will tell.

  • Got a chance to make it out to the BAC on Friday night for the return of Roberto Luongo and his crazy father in law. The BAC was in a frenzy all night long. 17,000+ fans showed up for the matchup and the free TV giveaways. I didn’t win a TV but I did lose my voice and argue with some silly Canadians. Such fun! Check a few pictures below taken from my iPhone.

Crazy Canadians Oh Canada From the Seats

  • George Richards from the most entertaining and informative blog on Miami Herald gives us an update on our walking wounded. According to JM, Radek Dvorak has two broken bones in his hand, will be out four to six weeks. I spoke to Radek after Saturday’s game, he was optimistic he was going to be OK. Apparently that’s not the case.
  • Did I mention earlier the Patriots lost? Check some Pats fans reactions here, here and here. KSK is also priceless today.
  • Last week the Marlins signed Dallas McPherson. The Mets signed Johan Santana. I’d say we balanced each other out.

Awwwwwwww

The truth: Jones would love McFadden. More truth: There have been no substantive talks between the teams about trading picks as far as I have been able to confirm. (Dolphins In Depth)
