Take Your Picks
Jeff Ireland confirmed that the Dolphins received a sixth-round NFL Draft pick from the Oakland Raiders in exchange for center Samson Satele and also swapped fourth-round picks as part of the deal. Miami’s pick in that fourth round improves 18 spots. . . . The Dolphins were awarded no compensatory draft picks Monday, but AFC East rival New England was awarded three — a third-rounder, a fifth-rounder and a sixth-rounder. No other division team was awarded a pick. (Miami Herald)

Sunday Link Dump

AP 2009-03-19
The Panthers are doing everything they can to stick around and sneak into the playoffs. It doesn’t look like this year is the year and the Panthers organization may be giving out quite a few free tickets next year. Let’s get to the link dump…
- Speaking of the Cats. Raffi Torres scored twice late in the third period to give the Columbus Blue Jackets a 3-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Saturday night. Torres scored his first goal of the night with 2:46 remaining in the third. He tied it at 1 and ruined Florida goalie Tomas Vokoun’s bid for his seventh shutout of the season.
- The Marlins got good news Saturday: Commissioner Javier Souto, who had been leaning against supporting the stadium project, said he now leans toward voting yes in Monday’s final Miami-Dade County Commission vote. If that’s the case, there will not be enough no votes to kill the project, barring a last-minute surprise. ”I think it will pass,” Souto said.
- A good sign: Dwyane Wade, eligible for free agency in 2010, loves playing for Erik Spoelstra. Besides ”doing an unbelievable job of keeping guys fresh,” Wade said, ”the thing that’s been surprising to me is how he hasn’t been the guy that loves to hear his own voice in practice every day. He makes it efficient. Sometimes young coaches like to hear their own voice and make the day longer.” And Wade likes that Spoelstra “is not a yeller. Once you have the respect of guys, you don’t have to yell. And everybody on the team respects him.”
- Last night Shaq proclaimed he would Twitter from his locker during half time of his game last night.
Attention all twitterers I’m a tweet at halftime and not get fined like vill a new wave a whteva his name is. about 16 hours ago from TwitterBerry
Shhhhhhh about 11 hours ago from TwitterBerry
And he did just that.
- Tony McDaniel passed his physical Friday, making his trade from the Jaguars to the Dolphins official. McDaniel wound up on injured reserve in December, so Miami made the trade contingent on his passing a physical.

Dolphins Do a Deal
Dolphins acquired DL Tony McDaniel from the Jaguars in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick. He’s been on the trade block for a month, and the Jags finally got someone to bite. McDaniel has been an injury prone, mediocre pro but at 6′7/310 has ideal size to play end in Miami’s 3-4. He figures to be the Fins’ fourth DE this year, behind Kendall Langford, Phillip Merling, and Randy Starks. (ESPN)

Cornerback? What the Hell?

Eric Green Cracks Brian Leonard
It’s no secret the Dolphins need CB help. It’s about time they made a move. Eric Green was signed yesterday as a free agent from the Arizona Cardinals. The Herald reports…
Green, 26, will immediately become the most likely player to replace cornerback Andre’ Goodman, who started last year before landing a free-agent contract with the Broncos this offseason.
During his career, he has picked off two interceptions while forcing seven fumbles and recovering six. I still would like to see some more experience back there. Perhaps the Phins can take a look at recently released Ken Lucas.

The National Football Post | Is Boldin On The Move?
Great article up on the NFLP which is turning into one of my favorite NFL sites on the web. Finally some excellent analysis from people who actually have some connections within each organization.
Personally I would love to see the Phins make a play for Boldin. It just doesn’t fit the mold of a move Bill Parcells would make. I do not see him giving up the draft picks necessary to acquire the player.
I mean why would he, he barely wants to make a move in free agency and address our Jason Allen, I mean cornerback problem.
Thoughts?
[Update: ProFootBallTalk.com is reporting that the Cardinals are actively shopping AB. ]
[Update 2: Cardinals GM is denying it. Naturally.]
